Distracting the Distractions
Raising a child with ADD a
parents decision to medicate
I would like to tell you a little about myself
and why this book is different from other
ADD Reference books. I will start off by
telling you I am not a Doctor, or a
psychiatrist, nor have I written this book on
behalf of either. Quite simply I am a mother
of a nine year old son with ADD diagnosed
and medicated since the age of five; I
myself was diagnosed with ADD when I
was twenty two. I struggled all through
school, and grew up entering the work
force going from one disappointing job to
another, all the while with the idea of myself
as stupid, unmotivated, lazy. That is until I
was diagnosed with ADD
I have worked with children
professionally for the last nine
years, I have a level two in early
childhood education and have
been running my own successful
child care business for the last
seven years.
A mother of two boys aged thirteen
and ten, I was diagnosed with;
Attention Deficit Disorder at age
twenty two, my youngest son was
diagnosed at age five.
